The Wirral Sand Yacht Club (WSYC) is proud to announce that Hoylake will once again play host to the European Sand Yacht Championships, running from Sunday 28th September to Friday 3rd October 2025.

It will be an honour to welcome back familiar faces and introduce new competitors and supporters to Hoylake, where a week of exhilarating racing is planned along the stunning sandy shoreline.

A True Community Effort

The Championships are being delivered through a strong partnership of local organisations and volunteers. Hoylake Sailing Club is generously supporting the event, opening its clubhouse to serve as the main administrative hub, Hoylake Social club is hosting social and prize-giving, while yacht parking will be located around the Hoylake RNLI base and directly on the beach. The WSYC team will also operate from the Hoylake Parade Community Centre, ensuring smooth coordination throughout the week.

With racing scheduled daily between 10am and 4pm (weather permitting), spectators are warmly encouraged to attend. Marshals will be on hand to answer questions and guide visitors, ensuring everyone can enjoy the action safely.

Safety and Organisation

The event is being organised in collaboration with Wirral Council, who permit landyachting on Hoylake beach under strict health and safety requirements. A dedicated team of more than 35 volunteers—including administrators, race officials, marshals, paramedic and first aiders—will ensure that all operations run safely and efficiently. Visitors and spectators are kindly asked to respect safety signage and to take care when accessing the beach to see the yachts in the Tech zone, please do not to walk onto the race area as this will trigger a pause to racing.

An International Celebration

Competitors, families, and supporters will begin arriving from Friday 26th September, ready for a week of racing and camaraderie. The Championships promise not only high-speed competition, but also a warm social programme—bringing together the international FISLY family for another memorable occasion in Hoylake, creating a truly international festival of landyachting.

A Warm Welcome Awaits

The WSYC, alongside its 30+ strong volunteer team, is ready to deliver a safe, exciting, and unforgettable celebration of landyachting on the Wirral coast. Visitors are encouraged to come along, soak up the atmosphere, and witness the thrill of European Championship racing right here in Hoylake.
