The 2025 ILCA Master World Championships officially kicked off today in Formia, Italy, hosted by Circolo Nautico Caposele. This year's event has drawn over 450 sailors from 31 nations, making it one of the largest gatherings of the ILCA Master community worldwide.

Raffaele Giranella, President of Circolo Nautico Caposele, shared his excitement: "For our club, it is a great honor to host in Formia the ILCA Master World Championship with as many as 455 athletes at the start. This event brings to our gulf sport, passion, and a sailing tradition that has deep roots here. We can't wait for the races to begin on Monday: it will be a unique spectacle, with the sea and wind of Formia ready to offer emotions to all participants and enthusiasts following the regattas. A special thank you goes to Regione Lazio and the Municipal Administration, in particular Councillor Elena Palazzo, for the support and closeness that made this event possible."

The championship combines top-tier competition with a vibrant social scene. After measurement checks and the Opening Ceremony on Sunday, September 21, the first race is set for Monday, September 22. Daily regattas will continue through the week, along with traditional pasta parties and live music.

A special Gala Dinner is planned for Thursday, September 25, while the Closing Ceremony and prize-giving will take place on Sunday, September 28.
