More than 70 boats have entered the Loch Lomond Challenge this weekend, 6 & 7 September. This year the event is part of the Sailjuice Challenge and Loch Lomond Sailing Club is delighted with a good increase in entries.

"Last year we had a poor turnout with about 26; the year before was about 60. It goes in cycles with different classes depending on whether we are on their travellers series in any given year. We can confidently say that being part of the Sailjuice Challenge has brought in more boats. Also they have come from much further south than we'd normally expect," reported the club.

As with every Sailjuice event, it's a broad array of classes represented. The low-rider International Moth fleet has targeted this event as a 'must do' for getting together, with thirteen entries as well as two foiling International Moths. There's also a good turnout of ILCA 6s (eleven entries) as well as a magnificent seven Musto Skiffs.

Loch Lomond is the first of two events taking place in Scotland this month, with the Dalgety Challenge taking place the weekend of 27/28 September.

Overall Results after two events

These events in Scotland follow on from the picturesque Ullswater Lake in the Lake District, where the Magic Marine Daffodil Regatta and the 230-boat Lord Birkett Trophy took place earlier in the summer. What is the Sailjuice Challenge?

Following on from 16 successful seasons of the Selden Sailjuice Winter Series, the aim of the Sailjuice Challenge is to provide good handicap racing across a series throughout the year, including the busy summer months. The organisers of the Sailjuice Challenge are working with existing events to help bring additional publicity and increase participation.

Next year

More events are planned for the Sailjuice Challenge in 2026. For further information about how to get involved, either as a participating Class or a host Sailing Club, please contact Simon Lovesey at
