Lake Eppalock

Lake Eppalock is currently sitting at 56.43% capacity. We've been seeing a few sunny days this last week which means a few fishos have some good opportunities to get out. If you are heading out, make sure to take the deepest deep-diving hardbody lures you can find for some trolling, along with vibes lures and soft plastics to cover all bases for some lure flicking.

Stay patient, fish slow, and target deeper sections of the lake for your best chance. Trolling or jigging in 8-10m of water will be your best bet as a lot of the good reddies seem to be sitting in those deeper areas.

Campaspe River

Flow in the Campaspe the last few weeks has seen some dramatic fluctuations, with water levels hitting 1.875m and then dropping to 1.65m but the last week it's evened out around the 1.8m mark and has brought on a few catches too.

The water is still really clear which will make getting a bite a little harder but will also increase the effectiveness of live lures.

We've had reports from a few people lately on the campus. Some blokes catching them on the surface and some on mini dim sims, that right mini dim sims! Below we've got some photos of Fishos Cheyne and Jeff, Cheyne catching his cod on a Lighthouse lure (which we should have arriving in the next week or two) and Jeff on the legendary dim sims.

If you're planning on getting out and are going to be throwing lures, try throwing some native coloured spinnerbaits close to the structure (dark green, silver).

Prefer bait? Stick with Scrub worms or grubs (we stock both in-store!) and focus on deeper pools or river bends, where fish tend to hold during colder periods.

Crusoe Reservoir/Lake Neangar

We've been having plenty of young fishos coming in lately boasting about the trout they have been catching at both Crusoe and Neangar.

The stocking done at the start of the school holidays has shown great results for fishing in both locations this last month.

Most catches being caught on worms, powerbaits and lures such as soft plastics and inline spinners.

If you're planning on getting out we suggest hitting the water around mid-day as a lot of the reports we've been receiving have been noting high catch times around lunch time instead of the usual sun rise and sun set hours.

Which some of us suspect may be due to the feeding times for the farmed trout deposited at the start of the holidays....possibly.

Try a variety of baits as everyone's been having different results based on what they've been using.

Cairn Curran Reservoir

Water levels at Cairn Curran have eased slightly again, now at 38.18% capacity (down from 39.8%).

Fishing remains patchy, but there have still been good cod and golden perch reported for those putting in the time.

Try trolling medium-diving hardbody lures around the 6-8m mark on the main body of the reservoir.

Further downstream in the Loddon River below the wall, Bassman "Codman" spinnerbaits have continued to do well.

Loddon River

Flow levels have bounced around again with rainfall across the region, currently sitting at 0.44m, with discharge now 339ML/day.

Fishing patterns are still very similar to the Campaspe. Bait fishing is producing best results—especially using chicken and grubs—in deeper sections with structure.

If you're using lures, keep them close to cover and work them slowly to match the sluggish feeding behaviour in cold water.

If you're heading that way, drop by the shop to grab a few Codger or Oldmate lures and in the golden hours maybe a few surface lures, Lighthouse lures being a good pick!
