Fancy something a bit different this year, and for charity too?
If you're looking to brighten up your September and try something different then the East Coast Piers Race weekend is worth a good look.
In just over two weeks time, on the 13th and 14th September, sailors will descend on Marconi Sailing Clubs grassy fields to take full advantage of a fun weekend on and off the water.
Run in aid of local charities this is your chance to take on one of two challenging long-distance races whilst helping raise essential funds for local charities.
Open to the RS200 and faster the event attracts a mix of catamaran and fast dinghy sailors every year.
If 'long distance' sounds scary to you, don't worry, we have club mother boats (yachts) lining the route at every mile along with an extensive fleet of ribs to help you along the way.
Here's what you need to know:
- Free camping on site from Friday through to Monday
- Two inshore medium distance races on Saturday starting from midday
- Saturday night BBQ included in entry
- Two course options for Sunday
- The 27 mile Colne Point Race
- The 48 mile East Coast Piers Race
