Tate Kump, a 16-year-old local sailor, will take on an incredible challenge this Saturday, August 30th when he attempts a solo, non-stop sail in his ILCA dinghy around the Isle of Wight to raise money for Cancer Research.
The 60 plus mile sail is expected to take 12-14 hours, depending on the weather and tides. Sailing alone in his small dinghy, Tate will face an extreme challenge.
He has already raised over £7,000 so far for Cancer Research and hopes to increase that total with further donations.
"Many of my friends and family have been affected by cancer, and I wanted to do something that would make a real difference." Tate said.
Donations to support Tate's challenge can be made via his fundraising page, fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/tates-giving-page-45
