Dave Adams returned with a vengeance for the 5th event of East Kent RSC's DF95 summer series at Barton's Point Coastal Park, reclaiming top spot.

With 12 knots, 12 skippers, and 16 races, Jim La Roche played R.O. Mike Brand made his normal strong start, winning races 1 & 2, from Dave and Peter Jackson, with Peter then Adrian Tomlinson in 3rd. Dave was struggling as Alan Hounsell scored 1,2 in races 3 & 4. Colin Honour got his first of 2 wins in race 4, Peter consistently 3rd two more times.

Jim struggled to chase the wind with the course, then Dave finally got his game together to plug in 1,2,1 before an OCS and 5th. Mike and Alan slipped to mid-fleet as Adrian claimed 2,1,3,2 with Alan getting a second win before lunch. Peter scored another 2nd, and Colin & Mike a 3rd place each to keep all the top half of the fleet in close contention at the break.

Club chairman Alan continued his unprecedented form after lunch, completing a 1,1,3,1 sequence. Dave was 2nd best with 3,1,2,4, then Colin Honour with 2,4,3,3,3,1. Adrian & Peter suffered from port tackers and OCS calls, but Adrian recovered with 2nds in races 12 & 15. After some mid fleet places Alan was 2nd twice in the last 3 races.

Dave had left all in his wake with a final sequence of 2,3,1,1. Mike, Alan and Adrian were neck and neck for second, Mike holding off Alan for the spot by 1 point with 4,3.3, from Alan's 2,6,2. Adrians 4th, 5th & 2nd left him a further 1 point back. Completing the top half were Peter and Colin, who's 7, 6 finish was just enough to hold off Peters two 4ths. That was 5 boats with just one point between them!
