XOD Captain's Cup at Cowes Week - Day 4

by Rory Paton 5 Aug 2025 21:17 BST 2-8 August 2025

After a day of rest the X boaters were back at it again today for day 4 of Cowes Week. With the wind a tricky North Westerly with some punchy gusts at times, the heavily biased start line was awkward.

The shifty wind caught a lot out today. Roger Yeoman's Excitation took an early lead, but was eventually worn down by the ever present Astralita.

The Class had a fabulous cocktail party at the Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club, kindly sponsored by Navigators & General, with raffle prizes from Hattingley, Sanders Sails and Jonothan Clark. With guests including past Captain's Cup winners Ian Lallow, Eric Williams and Alistair Shaw, the fleet had a lovely time reminiscing.
