P&B Cadet UK National Championships 2025 at Brixham Yacht Club - Overall

by Jo Jones 1 Aug 11:50 BST 26-30 July 2025

The final day of the UK nationals started with a number of very tired helms and crews. This was for two reasons. Firstly, Brixham Yacht Club had hosted an excellent BBQ for everyone the previous evening, and this combined with a treasure hunt around Brixham and quiz for all the parents, and endless other games around the yacht club had led to a late night.

Secondly we were all up an hour earlier than previous days, in order that we could fit in the last two races, and prize giving and still allow those Cadets heading to the Wold Championships in Lipno, Czechia, the time to load up their boats onto the trailers and start their long drive across Europe.

Two light wind races were managed before the cut off, with these races confirming the final results of the UK nationals - with both races being won by our new UK National Champions - Alex Enkel and Jude Baldock in Joint Effort.

Hetty Thorogood and Clementine Denny-Pickess came second in race 10, and also secured themselves as second overall, followed by Monty Hampton and Henry Yates in third.

In regatta fleet Finn Sullam and George Ring secured a first and third in the last two races - enough to secure the top spot overall, followed by Charlie Jones and George Koffman in second, and Maddy Sherwood and Eliza Gregory in third.

Race officer Bob 'Arky' Wainwright received an Honorary Vice President of the UKNCCA Award for his services to Cadets over the past decade - thank you Arky.

We then returned to the yacht club for Pimms and prize giving. A big thank you to the Race Committee, Brixham Yacht Club and the National Cadet Class Committee for organising a fantastic few days, and of course all the competitors and their parents - without whom this Nationals would not have been possible.
