Angola hosts International Optimist Team Racing Regatta in Celebration of 50 Years of Independence

Luanda recently hosted the Angola Optimist Team Racing International Regatta, a premier youth sailing event celebrating the 50th anniversary of Angola's independence.

Organized by the Angolan Sailing Federation (FADEN), with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Clube Naval de Luanda, the event featured eight teams, including national squads from Portugal and Mozambique, alongside Angola's top young sailors.

Held from July 17-20, 2025, in Luanda Bay, the regatta was a high-level team racing competition and also a key preparatory event for the upcoming African Optimist Championship in Tanzania. Over 43 races were completed in just two days, showcasing discipline, strategy, and youth talent.

The event concluded with a ceremony attended by government officials and sports authorities, reinforcing Angola's growing position in international sailing and youth development.
