Marine navigation company Savvy Navvy is partnering with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) - working together to promote water safety. The collaboration is announced coinciding with World Drowning Prevention Day, on Friday 25 July.

Savvy Navvy will support the charity through donations of a proportion of every Savvy Navvy subscription sold via the RNLI. Warning features of known incident hotspots will also be added to the app.

"We're proud to support the RNLI in their vital mission to save lives at sea and promote water safety. We aim to empower those who protect others with our innovative navigation app. By both amplifying RNLI water safety messages to our users and adding crucial RNLI safety features into the Savvy Navvy app, we are working together to make waters even safer.

"We know how big a part understanding the tides, weather conditions and route planning can have on water safety. Better preparation leads to safer experiences on the water — and that's exactly what Savvy Navvy was built for," says Jelte Liebrand, Founder and CEO of Savvy Navvy.

In 2024, RNLI's lifeboat crews launched 9,141 times, helping 8,259 people (an average of 23 people a day). With more than 8,000 RNLI operational volunteers at 238 lifeboat stations around the UK and Ireland, they all rely on training, kit, rescue equipment, lifeboats and lifeboat stations to save lives at sea.

Peter Sparkes, Chief Executive of the RNLI, says: "Delivering water safety information to people in the right place at the right time is a core part of the RNLI's mission of saving lives at sea. Thanks to this affiliation with Savvy Navvy, seafarers will be able to access safety advice alongside other vital information such as charts, weather and tides. Having such a comprehensive resource at their fingertips will be immensely useful to those taking to the water, helping them to plan their trip and stay safe at the same time."

Savvy Navvy, often referred to as 'Google maps for boats', has had over two million downloads globally. The revolutionary Savvy Navvy app solves vital navigation issues for boaters, kayakers, paddleboarders and jet-skiers. Unlike any other navigation solution, Savvy Navvy provides smart routing — giving users the optimal route and dynamic ETAs based on real-time data: departure time, chart information, weather conditions, tide, boat specifications and local regulations.
