International Optimist Team Racing Regatta Kicks Off Today in Luanda

by Prow Media 19 Jul 13:05 BST

The Angola Optimist International Team Racing Regatta officially set sail today in Luanda, marking the start of an exciting competition that brings together young sailors from Angola, Portugal, and Mozambique.

This prestigious event is part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Angola's independence, and is organised by the Federação Angolana de Desportos Náuticos (FADEN), with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Clube Naval de Luanda.

A total of eight teams are competing in this international regatta, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and the development of youth sailing in the region.

Prow is honoured to have been invited by FADEN to contribute to this historic event, taking full responsibility for the Race Office and the Race Committee, ensuring technical excellence and operational integrity on and off the water. This regatta not only strengthens sporting ties between Portuguese-speaking nations but also reflects a shared vision of using sport as a tool for unity, youth development, and international connection.

At Prow, we are proud to support initiatives that go beyond competition — creating impact, building legacy, and designing sailing destinations.
