The 29er European Championship 2025 in Riva del Garda is already making history. With 251 teams from 29 nations, this year's edition, hosted by Fraglia Vela Riva and the International 29er Class Association, has gathered one of the largest and most competitive fleets in class history.

Challenging Weather, Smart Decisions

After a strong start with three races on Day 1, inconsistent weather disrupted racing on Day 2, leaving some fleets a race behind. Today, the Race Committee, led by Claudio Tosi and Class Representative Peter Lubeck, took full advantage of a narrow weather window to complete the qualification series. Five races are now in the books, and the fleets are ready for finals.

Results after Day 3: (top ten)

1 Le Goff / Vidor (France) - 6 pts
2? Huber / Berger (Switzerland) - 7 pts
3? Huet Des Aunay / Gresset (France) - 8 pts
4? Mostini / Allain (France) - 8 pts
5? Holt / Forslund (Norway) - 10 pts
6? Hamm / Hamm (Germany) - 11 pts
7? Meacham / Leith (New Zealand) - 12 pts
8? Leech / Mason (New Zealand) - 13 pts
9? Morea / Guillemot (France) - 13 pts
10 Puchowska / Dampc (Poland) - 16 pts

Polish Power in the Women's Fleet

The Polish duo Antonina Puchowska and Alicja Dampc continue to dominate the women's category, standing 10th overall. Their margin, however, has tightened to just 1 point ahead of Hungary's Feher-Feher. With the Gold fleet battles looming, this will be one of the fiercest showdowns to watch.

Mixed Teams Keep the Pressure On

Among the mixed crews, Bartolozzi-Rizzi (Italy) are currently the top performers in 15th place, just one point behind Del Bimbo-Scerpellini. Another Italian pair, Montesano-Coslovich, is also close behind, creating a tight internal race within the tricolore teams.

Next up: The Finals

With the qualification stage now complete, the fleet has been split into Gold, Silver, and Bronze divisions. The Final Series kicks off tomorrow, 6 July, and will continue through 8 July, culminating in the awards ceremony on the beautiful Fraglia Vela Riva terrace.

Olympians at the Sailor Party

Last night, the young sailors were treated to a visit from Paris 2024 Olympians Chiara Benini Floriani and Lorenzo Brando Chiavarini. Both former Fraglia Vela Riva sailors, now representing the Guardia di Finanza and Polizia di Stato, shared their Olympic journeys and answered questions from an eager and inspired audience.
