Bury Lake Young Mariners (BLYM) is proud to announce that three of their talented young sailing instructors will embark on exciting international adventures this summer, sharing their expertise and passion for sailing in different countries.

Hannah Deeley, 20, from Chorleywood, and her brother Phil, 18, will head to Vassiliki in Greece to teach sailing at Wildwind Sailing Holidays. Hannah says, "Volunteering at BLYM encouraged me to fall in love with the outdoors, provided me with friends for life, and gave me the courage to turn my passion for teaching and sailing into a part-time job, adventuring abroad during my University summer holidays."

Charlotte Jennings, 22, will travel to the British Virgin Islands with Sail Caribbean to teach dinghy and yacht sailing full-time this summer. "BLYM always felt like family, it is the perfect place to volunteer. It taught me skills I have taken abroad to Fiji, Greece, and many more places. I definitely recommend it!"

This summer's international placements continue a proud BLYM tradition. In previous years, instructors have worked all around the world, from the Americas to South Africa, gaining invaluable experience and making lifelong friendships. Last year, Molly Losty spent the summer in Greece, instructing at Neilson Active Holidays: "BLYM has always supported my goals, from learning to sail at age 7 through to completing my Dinghy Instructor course when I was 16. BLYM teaches you invaluable skills far beyond sailing, such as public speaking, operating a till, different teaching styles, and truly so much more."

Rosie Ferris, 19, is one BLYM's most well-travelled young sailors and, in recent years, has worked in France, Spain, Monaco, Italy, Croatia and Montenegro, "My experience teaching at BLYM has developed my skills, discipline and love for being on the water!" Says Rosie, who is spending this summer back at BLYM - inspiring a new generation to follow in her footsteps.

"We are so proud of Hannah, Phil, Molly, Charlotte, Rosie, and all our other young volunteers and instructors" says Mark Colston, BLYM Chairman and Trustee. "Their dedication and hard work in supporting other young people and their commitment to sharing their skills is truly inspiring. These international opportunities are an example of how BLYM sets up young people for life by giving them the chance to develop skills. All our instructors train so hard to gain these skills and experiences, so we find it very rewarding to see our young people 'fly the nest' and explore the bigger world."

These international placements highlight the exceptional talent and strong foundational training provided by Bury Lake Young Mariners, which has been teaching young sailors for over 60 years.

Experience the joy of sailing this summer with BLYM!
