The NSW Hobie Cat Association, in conjunction with the Vincentia Sailing Club, are proud to release the Notice of Race and official open entries for the 2025 NSW Hobie Wave State Championships, the first ever Championship level event for the humble Hobie Wave to be held in Australia.

Along with this regatta being the inaugural State Championship for the Wave, it will also be a one of a kind regatta. With the VSC supplying four Waves, along with any additional boats brought by competitors, this regatta will feature a Round Robin Qualifying Series, followed by a Finals Series where the top sailors go head to head, starting from zero!

The NSWHCA is stoked to announce that the NSW State Champion in the Wave Class will be awarded comped registration and a charter Wave for the US Sailing Multihull Championships, taking place in November at Corpus Christi, Texas.

This regatta will have a strong focus on novice, youth and women sailors, with priority entry given to these sailors at the discretion of the organising authority over the Rockstars. Rockstar entrants are defined as sailors with a high-level of regatta experience, having raced in multiple State & National Championships. Rockstars are encouraged to be in attendance and be available on a standby list to: meet event quotas; and forward hand on youth, women & novices in strong conditions.

For each race, sailors will rotate from Wave to Wave, battling it out in style, much like a Hobie 16 Worlds.

The qualifying series will be held on Saturday and Sunday morning, with the Finals taking place Sunday afternoon.

MINIMUM CREW WEIGHT:

  • Waves: 54.43 kg

BOAT DEPOSITS:

  • A refundable boat deposit of AUD $100 will be required on site by every team. Damage deposits must be paid in cash in AUD $100. Any damage deposit unused at the end of the event will be returned to the competitor.

For any questions, queries or concerns, get in contact with the NSWHCA via info@nsw.hobiecat.asn.au and we hope to see a bunch of you in Jervis Bay this coming September to kick off the Sailing Season in style!

NOTE: To compete in a Championship level event, and to be included on the NSW Traveller Series, all helms must be financial members of a State Hobie Cat Association. The NSW membership form can be found here. For interstate travellers, please head to your State Association Website.
