Cape 31 fleet returns to Cowes this weekend to crown a National Champion at the Royal Yacht Squadron!

The 2025 Cape 31 UK National Championships, presented by Hamble Yacht Services (HYS), kick off this weekend (Friday 20th - Sunday 22nd June) at the prestigious Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes. A highly competitive fleet is set to battle it out over three days of super close one design racing on the Solent.

Defending champions Flying Jenny return to protect their 2024 title. Guy Gillon's Khumbu, third at last year's Nationals, will be looking to go two places better and secure the win.

Strong performances are expected from Akheilos, the current season leaders and Round 1 winners, as well as Jiraffe, who rebounded from a tough Round 1 crash to win Round 2 and currently sit third overall.

Joining the UK Nationals for the first time are Toucan, Black Seal, and Swift Half - all experienced teams adding fresh energy to the starting lineup.

We're also excited to welcome back David Maguire, owner of the well-known Valkyrie, who will be racing this weekend on Shotgunn as part of his preparation for the NYYC Invitational Cup later this year.

Racing will be managed by renowned race officer Peter Saxton, ensuring top-level racing in the Solent's famously tricky conditions.

Off the water, Hamble Yacht Services is hosting a Friday night BBQ for all competitors at the Royal Yacht Squadron, featuring a welcome drink and two-course meal. HYS will also be awarding the perpetual National Champion's Trophy, continuing their valued support of the Cape 31 class.

With prizes from Quantum Sails and SailGP Grandstand Tickets also on offer, this weekend promises a standout edition of the Cape 31 UK Nationals — both on and off the water.
