Bendigo Fishing Report
Lake Eppalock
This last few weeks at Lake Eppalock we've seen a few fluctuations in weather which have left the casual fisho with some tough days to decide whether to get out or not at the start of this week leaving no exceptions with wind gusts reaching up to 63km/h on the water.
The lake's water capacity is currently sitting at 58.74%, which has had the Redfin Holding in water depths of 8 - 10 Meters and coming in excess of 30cm. Tips from our team to those getting out in the coming weeks, try to focus around those 8-10m depths with an 8m+ RMG Poltergeist lure on the troll and the same depths on bait fishing yabbies on the bottom being our top pick and keeping an eye around those schools of redfin as we been seeing a few good cod floating around them.
Campaspe River
Currently, in the Campaspe, we're seeing the water sitting back around its 1.68m level from its 1.84m high from earlier this month, with water flow sitting around 70ML/day.
Some of our suggestions are hitting the surface lures in the sunrise and sunset hours which may be a little easier for a few this time of the year with the shorter daylight hours and trying to sneak in another hour after dark to get that catch of the night possibly. Spinners and hardbodies throughout the day with the Bassman 'Codman' spinner lure close against snags real slow to draw those cod out for the colder water we're fishing at the moment.
For bait we've been seeing lots of good fish caught on grubs and chicken so if you're not so much in the mood for flicking lures we think those will be your best bet placed near some good structure hopefully provoking the fish to come out of their holes.
Cairn Curran
Cairn Curran Reservoir is currently sitting at 39.8% capacity, with water levels at 202m.
While we haven't heard much from Cairn Curran as of late we've still gotten some reports of fishos getting catches of Cod, ranging from 40cm to 70cm. If you're on the reservoir, try trolling medium hardbody lures around the 6-8 meter mark for cod and for below the reservoir down on the Loddon try some classic vibe lures like the jackal TN60's.
Depending on how far down you go from the wall, also consider flicking a few spinners like our old range Bassman lures which we have on a buy 2 get 1 free, in our Bendigo store. *While stocks last
Loddon River
The Loddon is currently flowing harder than usual sitting at a flow rate of over 400ML/day, almost double the 150ML/day that it has been averaging at the last 6 months. Bringing the water level close to the 0.5m we had in November as opposed to the 0.3m we've been sitting at for the last few months.
For fishing at the moment, we suggest the same stuff as from our Campaspe report but maybe swaying more towards bait, try throwing grubs and chicken as they've been shown to produce a few more fish in some of the deeper holes of water. When fishing with lures try to get close to structure for all your casts and take the lures nice and slow as the fish are not going to be as aggressive towards the lures around this time of the year.
If you've got a day free head over to Bridgewater as we've seen a few people pulling in a few good fish along the banks, so maybe grab a few Codger or Oldmate lures in-store and head there for the afternoon for a flick and a stop at the old Bridgewater hotel after for dinner or a drink.
Shepparton Fishing Report
Goulburn Valley Fishing Report - Early June 2025
As we roll into winter, the cooler temps have kicked the fishing into a new gear across the Goulburn Valley. Here's what's biting and where to head for your best shot at a few fish this week:
Lake Eildon
Yellowbelly are still active around the tree lines and rocky points. Try slow-rolling soft vibes or yabbies in 4-6m of water.
Murray Cod are starting to fire up with the colder water—big swimbaits and surface lures early in the morning or just on dark are worth a go.
A few solid trout being caught by trollers working Tassies and shallow diving hardbodies near the main arms.
Goulburn River
The river's low and clear—perfect for sight fishing.
Cod are sitting tight in structure, but reacting well to spinnerbaits, mumblers, and diving hardbodies.
Smaller redfin are around, especially below locks and weirs—try small plastics or worms for numbers.
Waranga Basin
It's a redfin fest! Big schools sitting deep—find the bait and you'll find the fish.
Troll small hardbodies or drift with soft plastics and blades to get amongst them.
A few yellas mixed in but not consistent yet.
Kialla Lakes / Shepparton Local Spots
Lakes have been fishing a bit slow, but worth flicking soft plastics or worms in the afternoons as the water warms.
Great for taking the kids for a chill fish—expect small redfin and carp.
Cold weather tip:
Winter can mean fewer bites, but often bigger fish. Fish slow, stay patient, and rug up! If you're chasing cod, now's the time to go big or go home.
