An unforgettable weekend of high-speed, close-to-shore racing and world-class entertainment will take place this weekend when the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix takes place in front of the most famous skyline in the world.

On June 7 & 8, Governors Island will transform into the ultimate waterfront Race Stadium, bringing the world's fastest athletes on the water to New York City. The Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix is New York's kickoff to summer and the sixth stop of the 2025 Season calendar, in addition to SailGP's third visit to the city.

All 12 national teams are back on the startline after the cancellation of SailGP's Rio event last month. Top athletes in the sport will compete for spots on the leaderboard nearly halfway through the season as sailing superstars cross culture, lifestyle and entertainment in New York.

Rolex SailGP Championship leaders, Tom Slingsby's Australian team, earlier today announced two new co-owners, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, alongside a first-time Title Partnership for the team - now known as the BONDS Flying Roos.

Hot on their heels will be Emirates GBR and Spain, who sit at second and third, respectively, in the standings. Peter Burling and his New Zealand Black Foils - who stormed to success in New York last season - sit just outside the podium in fourth, followed by Northstar Canada in fifth.

Season 4 champions Spain, led by Olympic champion driver Diego Botin, is riding high after their first-place finish at the last event in San Francisco.

Diego Botin, driver of Spain's SailGP Team said: "The team is doing great, motivated to face this second part of the season after this break we had. The forecast is a bit uncertain. We don't know what we'll get this weekend. We can get any kind of conditions, so we need to be ready for the small course, for shifty conditions, and a lot of changes."

The U.S. SailGP Team, currently in 11th place in the standings, will look to bounce back on home waters after disappointing showings at the Los Angeles and San Francisco events in March.

Anna Weis of the U.S. SailGP Team said: "After San Francisco, we took a hard look at some weaknesses within our team and we spent two months looking really hard behind the scenes, the data and things we can improve when we get back on the water. I think it's really special to be here as New York City is one of the most iconic cities in the world; it feels almost like a second home. We have a lot of team members who live here so it's very special."

The Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix will feature two days of fleet racing, concluding with a winner-takes-all, three-boat final. A limited number of tickets remain for both days of this weekend's event, available for purchase at SailGP.com/NY.
