Hayling Island Sailing Club (HISC) has enhanced its support for cruiser sailors with the launch of a new club moorings tender, Selene. Commissioned on 24th May 2025 by Club Commodore Graham Williamson during a launching ceremony, Selene replaces the old club Tender a Plymouth Pilor 24 and represents a significant upgrade to the club's fleet and its facilities for members with boats on moorings.

Built by Robust Boats, Selene is a rugged and versatile aluminium craft, specifically designed to serve the needs of HISC's cruiser fleet. Her drop-down bow ramp allows for easy embarkation and disembarkation regardless of the state of the tide, an important feature for reliable year-round service in the tidal waters of Chichester Harbour.

The club's moorings are located just a five-minute sail from the entrance to Chichester Harbour offering convenient access to the Solent. HISC have several moorings which are currently available for members to let, making this an ideal time for those looking to base their cruising boat in one of the South Coast's most attractive sailing areas.

Members who hold club moorings benefit not only from a prime harbour location but also from the added value of full club membership, offering access to the renowned HISC clubhouse, excellent facilities, and a vibrant sailing community.

"The new moorings tender will make a real difference to our members who rely on dependable access to their boats," said Commodore Graham Williamson. "We're very grateful to the generous donors who helped bring Selene to life."

Visitors arriving by boat can also take advantage of several dedicated visitor moorings off the club. These can be arranged through the HISC office and provide a perfect base for exploring the harbour or enjoying the club's impressive facilities ashore.

Further information is available at www.hisc.co.uk and Visitor Moorings Info.
