Clean Sailors is delighted to announce that Malta Sail Factory has joined the ReSail by Clean Sailors platform, continuing the expansion of this global movement for sustainable sail reuse and repurposing.

With its strategic location in the heart of the Mediterranean and a maritime heritage that runs deep, Malta is an ideal geographic addition to the ReSail network.

As a key regional player, Malta Sail Factory brings both expertise and passion for sailing to the initiative, helping to further ReSail's mission to extend the lifecycle of sails and reduce waste across the sailing industry. Through this partnership, Malta Sail Factory will support the collection, listing, and redistribution of pre-owned sails, offering new life to valuable materials that might otherwise go unused.

Sails are strong and durable, made to withstand Earth's toughest environments including UV light, saltwater and wind. Made from complex synthetic materials,, sails aren't formally recycled anywhere in the world; currently over 97% of sails end up in a landfill or are incinerated at the end of their life.

"We're incredibly proud to welcome Malta Sail Factory to the ReSail by Clean Sailors platform," said Holly Manvell, Founder of Clean Sailors and ReSail. "Bruno, Daniele, Stefano and team are so clearly committed to the cause, as sailors as well as sailmakers. That, combined with Malta's central position in the Mediterranean and its centuries-old maritime tradition, makes Malta Sail Factory an invaluable addition to our growing network. Their commitment to sustainability and innovation truly exemplifies the spirit of ReSail."

As the newest loft to join ReSail, Malta Sail Factory joins a forward-thinking collective of sailmakers, sail lofts and upcycling businesses working together to transform how end-of-life sailcloth is managed. This collaboration encourages smarter, more circular solutions and opens up new opportunities for sailors and marine professionals alike.

Bruno Montalbano, CEO at Malta Sail Factory, shared: "Joining ReSail is an exciting milestone for us. At Malta Sail Factory, we've always looked for ways to blend tradition with responsibility, and partnering with ReSail allows us to offer practical solutions for sail reuse across our region. We're thrilled to contribute to a future that honours both the sea and those who sail it."

Through ReSail, Malta Sail Factory will connect sailors with opportunities to reuse or repurpose sails, helping to reduce marine waste and promote a circular economy within the sailing community.
