XR 41 Dominates Debut at MaiOR 2025 - FORMULA X Takes First Place in ORC A&B

by X-Yachts 7 May 09:48 BST 2-4 May 2025

The northern European offshore racing season launched in spectacular fashion at the Mai Offshore Regatta (MaiOR) from 2 to 4 May 2025, and the spotlight was firmly on X-Yachts' latest high- performance model - the XR 41.

Making her competitive debut in the prestigious ORC Class A&B, the XR 41 entered the fleet with two boats:

  • FORMULA X, helmed by Olympic sailor and match racing champion Jesper Radich,
  • EXCITER, skippered by seasoned offshore competitor Jens Kuphal

Final Results - ORC Class A&B

After eight fiercely contested races, the final leaderboard stood as follows:

1st Place - Jesper Radich on FORMULA X (XR 41)

Delivering a masterclass in consistency and control, Radich and his Danish X-Yachts Racing Team won five of eight races, confirming the XR 41's elite potential and performance Pedigree. Their dominance across shifting conditions sent a strong signal to the international offshore racing community: the XR 41 is here to win.

2nd Place - Peter Buhl on Sirena (ClubSwan 42)

Buhl's Sirena sailed a solid and tactical series, consistently earning top finishes and securing second overall. While unable to unseat FORMULA X, the team closed strong with a final race win, underlining their experience and resilience.

    3rd Place - Erik Stannow on DIXI 4 (X-41)

The real battle was for third, and DIXI 4 seized the podium spot in the closing stages. With smart decisions and consistency throughout, Stannow's team edged out tough competition — including XR 41 EXCITER, which nonetheless showcased the class's depth and competitiveness.

A Breakthrough Performance for the XR 41

With two boats in the top four and a commanding regatta win, the XR 41 has proven itself as the future of offshore performance sailing. Designed with a focus on race- Optimised geometry, an open cockpit, and next- gen rig tuning, the boat's performance at MaiOR delivered on every promise — and then some.

"This is exactly the kind of result we dreamed of," said Kevin Wallis, Managing Director, X-Yachts Australia and New Zealand. "To see the XR 41 win in her first regatta — against serious competition — confirms the design is not only competitive, but capable of leading the fleet."

A Strong Start to a Promising Season

With MaiOr now complete, the XR 41 moves forward with momentum and credibility. For Racers, owners, and teams watching closely, the message is clear: X-Yachts has raised the bar.
