Foiling made easy! Rutland Sailing Club played host to a lively BirdyFish demo weekend, offering sailors the chance to experience the thrill of foiling first-hand in one of the most accessible two-person foiling dinghies on the market.

Despite light winds over the weekend, the BirdyFish proved its performance pedigree, effortlessly lifting and flying at more than twice the speed of the breeze. From experienced racers to enthusiastic newcomers, sailors took to the water and quickly discovered how intuitive, stable, and exhilarating foiling can be — with the right design beneath them.

A highlight of the weekend was an informal speed challenge, with friendly competition between participants. Charlie set an early benchmark at 16.7 knots, but it was Adam who ultimately claimed bragging rights, clocking an impressive 17.2 knots — a new BirdyFish speed record for Rutland Water.

On hand throughout the event was Ollie from SailPower, the UK importer of the French designed and built BirdyFish, providing support, coaching, and sharing insights into the boat's unique features.

The demo showcased the BirdyFish's ability to get sailors foiling quickly, even in marginal conditions, and reinforced its growing reputation as a boat that makes foiling accessible, achievable, and above all, enormous fun.

Further BirdyFish demo events are planned — more details available via sailpower.co.

SailPower is the official UK importer for the BirdyFish.
