This morning, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced the dates for Florida’s Gulf Red Snapper recreational season, marking the longest red snapper season in the history of state management. Building on last year’s 103-day season, this year’s season has been extended to 126 days, allowing anglers plenty of time to enjoy fishing for one of the state’s most important species.

Florida’s Gulf Red Snapper season will open on Memorial Day Weekend, then reopen from June 1st-July 31st. Afterwards, the fall season will remain open daily from September 1st-September 14th, before transitioning to three-day weekends through the end of the year. Importantly, the season will also include several holidays, such as Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, allowing anglers to spend quality time on the water with their families.

ASA applauds Governor DeSantis and the FWC for prioritizing sustainable fishery management that balances conservation with access to important waterways, and we look forward to the upcoming season.
