Sailors from some of the most prestigious yacht clubs across the USA and the UK are converging on Marblehead this weekend as the Boston Yacht Club opens its racing season with the 26th annual Jackson Cup team race regatta.

A total of eight teams will compete in the event which will take place in Marblehead Harbor starting at 9.15am on Saturday morning, April 26.

Last year's winners, Marblehead's Corinthian Yacht Club will face challenges from the local Eastern and Boston Yacht club teams as well as from the Ida Lewis Yacht Club in Newport, RI, the Southern Yacht Club from New Orleans, the New York Yacht Club, the Chicago Yacht Club, and the Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club of Long Island. The UK challengers are from the historic Royal Thames Yacht Club of London, winners of the event in 2010 and 2023.

"The Jackson Cup attracts the top talent from some of the finest yacht clubs in the world", said BYC Vice Commodore Kate Ferris Richardson, "and is an interesting spectator sport. Instead of a number of different yachts battling it out, here you have eight teams in Sonars trying to out maneuver each other."
