From Friday, April 18 to Sunday, April 20, during the Easter weekend, the waters of Calasetta, in southern Sardinia (Sulcis area), will host three days of sailing, sport and international exchange.

The event is part of the vibrant Calasetta Sail Week, which aims to establish the Sardinian town as a key destination for youth sailing and sports tourism.

Taking center stage will be the 2nd OpenSkiff National Regatta (following the first held in Marina di Camerota), which also serves as the opening event of the OpenSkiff Eurochallenge, the international circuit dedicated to the young and dynamic OpenSkiff class.

The circuit will continue with upcoming stages in Hungary (Lake Balaton) at the end of May, Poland in September, and Barcelona in late October, during the OpenSkiff European Championships.

Organized by the Lega Navale Italiana - Sulcis Section, under the authority of the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV) - III Zona Sardegna, and with the support of the Municipality of Calasetta, the Sardinia Region, the Marina of Calasetta, and the Italian and International OpenSkiff Classes, the event has already attracted 124 pre-registered athletes from Italy, India, Poland, Hungary and Switzerland, confirming the strong international character of the regatta.

The young sailors will compete in two age groups: Under 13 and Under 17, ready to race with enthusiasm and sporting spirit in true OpenSkiff style.

In these days, teams' vans and trailers are arriving in Sardinia: a whole community is mobilizing to create an event that is much more than just a regatta.

The OpenSkiff class promotes a vision of sailing that combines competition, fun and inclusion, creating the perfect environment for young sailors to grow and for different cultures to meet.

The forecast for the opening day on Friday looks promising (with skipper's meeting scheduled at 10:00 and the first race at 12:00), with sunshine and wind expected to kick off the event in the best possible way.

Italy, a longtime protagonist in international OpenSkiff events - with many highly competitive Sardinian athletes - is once again ready to shine and confirm its leadership at the European level.

So mark your calendars: Calasetta awaits you for an Easter weekend full of sailing, youth sport and international friendship, thanks to the passion and professionalism of the Lega Navale Sulcis and its dedicated team, ready to offer the best experience for sailors and guests alike.
