The RS Class Association are delighted to announce that the 2025 RS200 Masters Championship will be held at the West Country Boat Repairs SW Ugly Tour Event at Bowmoor SC on 28th June 2025.

This year the class have opted for a one-day midsummer format at a warm, friendly, grass-roots club, with easy launching, a very short sail to the start, good facilities ashore and a smaller area of water for good tactical racing, rather than any long slogs upwind!

RS Class Association Secretary Sally Campbell said "We hope the gentler format might attract a broader range of sailors, particularly grand masters, and that the venue and racing format will test sailing skills, rather than physical strength or endurance, though that said, we have some very strong and fit Masters sailors amongst our regular fleet who often make the podiums at regional and national events!"

The Masters will race with the main fleet, with results extracted for the title of RS200 Masters Champion, so all participants will also qualify for the West Country Boat Repairs SW Ugly Tour event.

The Masters Category is open to all RS200 helms aged 45 or over, crewed by sailors of any age, with Grandmaster aged 609 or over, again with crews of any age.

The RS200 fleet is well known for its youth contingent, particularly at the Nationals, which regularly attracts over 100 boats of which some 60% are aged under 25, but the class also has a huge number of Master sailors, based all over the UK, sailing at their home clubs and travelling as part of our 4 regional series. Some of the RS200 Masters have been sailing RS boats for over 30 years! Many masters loan their boats to younger family members for the nationals, some of whom are 3rd generation RS sailors, but others do compete at the Championships, where each year a special 'Masters Meal' is organised. This has become so popular that in recent years, we've noticed a few wannabe masters sneaking in (and actually of course very welcome to do so).

More details of the 2025 RS200 Masters Championships will be published soon. Find out more on the event webpage.
