The IRC Inland National Championship took place at Windermere Cruising Association on various weekends over the Winter of 2024/2025. Sponsored by Spinlock the series was blighted by Winter storms meaning the loss of some of the races.

Despite the conditions the series took place from November to March and conditions improved as the series progressed.

Tony Woods from Royal Windermere Yacht Club in the Sonata 'Frankie The Rhino' took the series with a healthy lead over another Sonata 'Aquila' crewed by a talented crew and skippered by Nick Holt from Blackpool and Fleetwood.

Third place was taken by the SB20 of Adam Savage from Elton Sailing Club who has improved performance massively this last year.

WCA should be congratulated on another successful series despite the poor weather and look forward to hosting further events in 2025.

The appeal of offshore
Is there still appeal? Have we made it too onerous? Why would someone take it up now? I had been pondering. Yes. Marquee events have no issue attracting entrants. Middle Sea, Transpac, Cape to Rio, Fastnet, and Hobart all spring to mind instantly, but what of the ‘lesser' races? Lots of boats in pens (slips) a lot of the time Posted on 18 May
