by Prensa Sailing Comunicación 29 Jan 16:38 GMT 30 January - 2 February 2025

The international event, organised by the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja, starts this Thursday, 30th January, and will conclude on Sunday 2nd February.

430 sailors representing 29 countries will be on the starting line.

The curtain rises for the XVII Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja and with it the best show of the international Optimist starts, the great party of the Children's Sailing begins. From tomorrow, Thursday 30th January, until Sunday 2nd February, the RCN of Torrevieja will host this regatta which is part of the Optimist Excellence Cup, the Spanish Optimist Class International circuit.

And it does so by meeting and exceeding all expectations, both by the RCN of Torrevieja and the Organizing Committee itself. The Torrevieja regatta, under the sponsorship of Euromarina, reaches 430 sailors representing 29 countries. Poland will be the country with the largest representation, 49; Netherlands and Turkey will have 20; Germany 11 and United States 10. Along with these countries, it should be noted that sailors from Singapore (2), Tajikistan (1) Hong Kong (4), Ukraine (2), China (1) Estonia (2) or Hungary (1) will attend the event. Spain, for its part, will have the participation of 8 autonomous communities with a total of almost 215 sailors from Galicia, the Basque Country, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Valencia, Murcia, Andalusia and the Canary Islands, representing 36 sailing clubs.

There will be a high level and a lot of quality in Torrevieja, including the recently proclaimed world champion, the Canarian Marta Mansito (RCN Gran Canaria). The American Pablo Muñoz, fifth in the World Championship in Argentina 2024, will also be there.

The 430 sailors have four intense days ahead of them, with 12 races planned in total, with two first days of qualifying rounds and two days of finals, if the wind conditions allow it and the planned programme can be completed. The starting time for the first race of the day has been set at 10.00 a.m., the same for the following three days, unless there are any changes.

On the social level, the Welcome Party stands out, a party for all the sailors promoted by the main sponsor: Euromarina, in which the countries and autonomous communities represented in the Torrevieja event parade, ending with the great flag party.

As for today, Wednesday, the teams have focused on administrative formalities, unloading trailers, finalizing details and put to boats and material for the start of the competition. Some of the teams have already been in Torrevieja for a few days, so today they have had their last training session on the water.
