It was third time lucky for the WASZP End of Seasons at Rutland. The weather still didn't play ball, with sub-foiling conditions across the weekend. This is what the sailors had to say...

It was my first WASZP open meeting and I found that everyone was super welcoming and encouraging in every aspect. It was really helpful having an on-water coach providing tips and tricks, I learnt loads. All of the activities were really fun and a great way to meet and get to know new people. This has been one of my most favourite events despite the light winds and can't wait to attend more. Oscar (13)

Lots of new talent at this event which is great to see. I can see a lot of juniors and youth have made big gains this year and will be fighting for podiums in 2025. It was great for the older sailors to spend time at the front too, low riding is a bit of a leveller. Off the water activities were epic as usual for the EoS. Looking forward to an amazing 2025 in the WASZP! Dan (53 - it's only a number...)

I was nervous to take part in my first WASZP regatta, but I soon felt comfortable because everyone was so supportive. Despite the cold and lack of breeze, I really enjoyed the challenge managing to get four races in, and importantly learned so much from the experienced sailors. What a blast! Rocket launching, team building, hands tied sandwich making! I've seen it all, plus a bit of WASZP sailing. As a parent of a youth sailor, I was really impressed with the age ranges of sailors, many older than me! Perhaps it's time to dust my old dinghy boots off and transition to WASZPs myself. A fun way to wrap up the 2024 season, and kick off a huge 2025 season. Always fun racing with the WASZP fleet despite the lack of breeze (and temperature...) - full credit to Brenda and the race team for getting 4 races off and to Martin and the WASZP UK committee for plenty of laughs onshore! It was cold, but the welcome from everyone for my first ever WASZP event was really warm. Transitioning from ILCAS felt easy, the light winds helped but I am really pleased that I completed all races. Alex (16)
