For the third time in its long history the Finn Gold Cup will return this year to the iconic venue of Cascais, in Portugal. Entry has officially opened with the Notice of Race published on the event website.

The 2025 Finn Gold Cup will be held from 30 August to 6 September, and is incorporated with the Jorg Bruder Finn Silver Cup, which for the first time ever is being held for U29 sailors.

The event is being hosted by the Clube Naval de Cascais.

Cascais holds a special place in the hearts of Finn sailors, as it was here, back in 1970, that the biggest Finn Gold Cup ever was held, with 180 starters on one line. It was also a notable event because the Brazilian legend, Jorg Bruder, the first Finn sailor to win three titles, won his first world title.

Thirty-seven years later, in 2007, the Finn Gold Cup returned to Cascais as part of the ISAF Sailing World Championships, which produced one of the most epic days of Finn sailing ever recorded. The 2007 Finn Gold Cup was won by Rafa Trujillo, from Spain.

The 2025 Finn Gold Cup will come at the end of a long season for the class with the Open Europeans in Naples in April, with already nearly 90 entries, and the Finn World Masters in Medemblik, The Netherlands, with 260 entries already.

For many it will also mark the beginning of the 2026 season, with many planning to ship boats after the event to the 2026 Finn World Masters and Finn Gold Cup, in Brisbane, Australia. This double event is scheduled for February 2026.

The event website for the 2025 Finn Gold Cup is here and the entry form can be accessed directly here.

The Finn Class has an exciting season ahead, with a new strategy for growth and development including some U29 training camps being organised and two instructional webinars in the coming weeks. All details can be found on the class website at: www.finnclass.org.
