Melges 24 Bushwhacker Cup Preview: a perfect ending to 2024 North American Sailing Series

The 2024 North American Sailing Series will conclude with the highly anticipated Bushwhacker Cup, hosted by the Pensacola Yacht Club (PYC) this weekend, November 8-10.

This grand finale promises an unforgettable weekend as nineteen Melges 24 teams prepare for an exciting blend of intense competition and relaxed camaraderie. Held in conjunction with the Atlantic Coast and Gulf Coast Championships (ACC/GCC), the Bushwhacker Cup is set to deliver two days of fun racing, perfectly complemented by PYC's renowned hospitality and signature Bushwhacker cocktails.

For the first time ever at the Bushwhacker Cup, Vakaros RaceSense technology will be accompany the fleet, a cutting-edge, innovative tool that has taken the yacht racing world by storm. RaceSense enhances the on-water experience by significantly reducing general recalls, eliminating the need for pinging, and minimizing reliance on U and Black flags. This technology allows regattas to run more high-quality races, making the experience fairer and more enjoyable for all sailors.

PYC is celebrated for its exceptional race management and dedicated team of passionate members, securing its place on the Melges 24 racing calendar as a true sailors' haven. Racing in Pensacola offers a perfect balance of high-level competition and a welcoming, yet lively atmosphere that defines PYC so well. So much so, for the U.S. Melges 24 Class, it is designated as the next destination for the 2025 U.S. National Championship, November 14-16.

This weekend's event will officially bring the 2024 North American Sailing Series to a close. Canada's Dan Berezin on Surprise is the current overall Open and Corinthian leader, followed by 2024 U.S. National Champion Geoff Fargo on Sentinel in second, and Bora Gulari's Kingspoke is third.

Post Pensacola, teams head straight to Miami for the start of the Bacardi Winter Series on December 14-15. Teams are encouraged to register now, as the early entry deadline is Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Register Online.
