Race at Grafham Water SC this winter

Sailors of all dinghy, catamaran and windsurfer classes are being offered winter membership at Grafham Water SC with membership fees starting at just £100.

Situated between Cambridge, Milton Keynes and Peterborough, Grafham Water is one of the largest reservoirs in the country and offers superb sailing conditions in all conditions. All classes of boat are welcome with strong fleets of ILCAs, Flying Fifteens, Solos, D-Zeros, Dart 15s, A-class Cats and RS boats taking part. The standard winter series runs from 30th November 2024 to 31st March 2025 and consists of 3 back-to-back races across 4 starts on a Sunday morning. A total of 39 races with 13 needing to be sailed to qualify for this series. In addition there is a sprint racing series on one Sunday of the month in January, February and March, with 5 races per day, and a pursuit race (followed by Christmas dinner) on the final Sunday before Christmas. Some top-quality prizes for the winter series are being supplied by club sponsor Gill.

Winter members will also be offered the opportunity to enter the Gill Grafham Grand Prix being held on 29th December at a special discounted rate, join Saturday coaching sessions and sail on the lake 7 days a week.

The price for winter membership for single-handers is £100 which includes membership for one helm and dinghy park space for one boat. The price for a doublehanded boat, two members and a boat park space is £120.

Winter membership gives sailors of all classes the opportunity to stay fit and competitive over the winter months, race against top helms and enjoy the big courses that the 1550-acre lake can offer.

Dart 15 TT and Inlands at Grafham Water

Catapults dominate Grafham Medium Catamaran Open
It was a Catapult 1, 2 and - oh, so nearly - 3 Catapults showed their light airs capability against a handicap fleet comprising mostly Dart 18 single-handers. Gareth Ede won the coveted £75 Gill Marine gift voucher, and John Terry picked up a Gill sailing holdall for coming second. Posted on 4 Nov
