J Class Barcelona Regatta 2024 - Day 1

Although the fleet went afloat on time and waited, ready to race at any time during the afternoon, there proved to be insufficient wind to allow the J Class Barcelona Regatta competition to get under way.

At a maximum there were short periods of five to six knots of breeze and Svea, Rainbow and Velsheda were on station ready to go, but the gentle breeze was too light and fickle and at just after 1600hrs the race officer sent the J Class trio back to the dock.

The forecast for Tuesday is very promising. With winds due to be up to 18 or 19 knots the programme is to run two races, which should be a great showcase for the J Class yachts if the breeze does arrive as expected. The first warning signal is planned for 13:00 local time.
