We spoke to David Witt, skipper of SHK Scallywag yesterday morning (Thursday) to hear about the repair of the boat’s bowsprit, what their goal has been for the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and their upcoming program of events. As it transpired sailing was abandoned yesterday.

With the wind howling around our media tent at lunchtime today (Friday), we are in ‘hurry up and wait’ mode again. PRO Stuart Childerley is keen to see if there’s an opportunity for a late race today, as the winds are forecast to abate slowly. A final yes/no decision will be made at close to 2pm local time.

Meantime, the changing forecast for Saturday (which had been for light and variable breezes of 1-5 knots for the last few days) is showing the breeze trending upwards rapidly.

The mercurial Mistral keeps us guessing - right to the very end!
