Oldest videos of XOD class yachts sailing

With the Hamble Classics starting yesterday, featuring the XOD fleet, it seems a good moment to search the video archive at YachtsandYachting.com to check out the oldest X-One-Design videos we can find from the era when all footage was analogue (roughly, before the year 2000).

It seems that all we have is from the sixties! Plus, it is all from Cowes Week. Did nobody elsewhere, at any other time, have reason to point a cine camera at XOD racing?

Cowes Week 1960 includes 12m, Dragon, Redwing, and Flying Fifteen classes as well as the XODs we are hunting for.

Cowes Week 1961 including footage on board 12 Metre 'Sceptre' and of the royal Dragon, but there is a little XOD action too.

Cowes Week 1962 has 12 Metres too, but keep watching...

Update: we later found Cowes Week 1965 covers the X One-Designs

Cowes Week 1967 has a focus on youth, but there is good footage of the XOD class.

Cowes Week 1968 has been edited by a class fan to keep the focus on the XODs, after the initial scene-setting.

What of the other decades?

Do you know the location of any other XOD videos either side of the 60s? We would love to share these with other sailors. You can submit video links to us for immediate review.

Keep watching with:
