Industry Immersion Day © Boating Industry Association of Victoria

The Boating Careers Industry Immersion program recently spanned three consecutive weeks across Dandenong, Williamstown, and Geelong, engaging 37 students from multiple schools with 12 industry employers.

The students demonstrated strong enthusiasm and genuine interest in pursuing boating careers. In collaboration with Vic LLENs and Headstart providers, structured work placements are set to progress into school-based apprenticeships, offering students real career opportunities.

We stress the importance of boating safety and news of new boats makes welcome news. Marine Rescue NSW has delivered three new multi-purpose vessels to units in the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and South Coast. The vessels form part of Marine Rescue NSW's response to recommendations from the 2022 NSW Flood Inquiry with the Service receiving $3.748 million State Government funding to build capability and capacity to support NSW SES and other agencies during significant emergencies.

At the same time, Marine Rescue Tuggerah Lakes volunteer Bob Blue has been awarded the National Medal for 15 years long and diligent service to community. Following a career with the Australian Defence Force, Mr Blue began volunteering with Marine Rescue Tuggerah Lakes in 2016 and is today a rated senior crew member and radio officer. Mr Blue was presented the medal by Minister for the Central Coast and Member for Wyong the Hon. David Harris during a ceremony at the unit's Toukley base.

Marine Lifestyles announced at a launch event at Sydney Seaplanes Empire Lounge in Rose Bay that it had been appointed by Evoy® as their dealer for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region. Marine Lifestyles, based in Sydney and Perth, has been appointed for the commitment it shares with Evoy® to accelerating the transition to emission free, blissfully quiet and sustainable boating.

Jeanneau's latest innovative yacht design has arrived in Australia. The long awaited Jeanneau Yachts 55 features a unique deck and cabin layout, with the two aft guest cabins completely isolated with their own companionways, helms mounted further forward than usual, all paving way for significant aft saloon and sun deck combinations for the ultimate entertaining space. Faithful to the spirit of the Jeanneau Yachts line, the 55 also features timeless elegance, high performance, and comfort for endless offshore and long-range cruising, while setup to be handled short-handed with ease.

Sailing enthusiasts have an exceptional opportunity to own a share in a brand new Dufour Yacht following new syndicate offers released by Yachtshare. The shared ownership programs are available for a brand new Dufour 470 and a Dufour 37, both highly acclaimed sailing yachts from the renowned French shipyard. Syndicate shares in the yachts, which are distinguished by their impressive combination of performance, comfort and innovative design, are now available at Yachtshare's Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron base in Brisbane.

The highly anticipated range of ASTenders is now available at Carbon Yachts' premier Sydney showroom, offering yacht owners and enthusiasts a selection of the most innovative and luxurious tenders on the market. ASTenders are celebrated for their innovation and superior craftsmanship, with hulls constructed entirely from carbon fibre, ensuring exceptional durability and performance. For those of us who spend a degree of time outdoors, Sail-World Australia editor, John Curnow, recently reviewed a couple of wide brimmed hats: "As an Australian, being sun aware is kind of top of mind. I love the stuff, but these days just don't want to be in it too much. You'll often see me opt to stand in the shade when I can. Now for what seemed like forever, quite possibly my favourite piece of kit for going yacht racing was my über-large straw hat. A huge brim that really offered maximum coverage, plenty of air circulation, and a chin strap to keep it where it needed to be. Awesome stuff, and when you looked up at the sails or the mast, you still had a level of protection. The hats were supplied by American Hat Makers."

Stay out of the sun!
