Eleven DF95's including two new East Kent members braved boisterous B rig conditions at Barton's Point Sheppey on the 8th of August. Dave Adams returned from a break to win race 1 under A rig, but soon all changed down to Bs.

Adrian Tomlinson's mastery of the B rig then showed as he won the next four races, with Dave, Spencer Pope and Alan Hounsell taking seconds. Mike Brand had a slow start but then plugged in five podiums in a row including wins in races 6,7, and 8. Peter Jackson was consistently on the podium and never below fourth in the first 7 races.

But then the conditions started taking their toll. Ian Streten and Tony Knell dropped out early. Alan Hounsell had stern block failure in race 5 and Peter Jackson's joined him in race 9 with water ingress and sheet failure and Andrew Nichols also retired from racing. Spencer Pope was struggling, but less so than Robert Owens, having a bad day and giving up by race 13.

At the front, Adrian returned to the top step, then Dave took race 11, before Mike won the next three, one from Dave and two from Adrian. From race 8 onwards new member Rob Maunder got his act together with 5 podiums to secure fourth overall from Spencer and Peter. At the front, Adrian had done enough by race 14 of the 15 sailed and sat out the final heat.

Dave won this from Mike and Spencer, with less than half the fleet left racing, but could only get within a point of Mike in second overall so finished in an unaccustomed third place.

Results:

1. Adrian Tomlinson - 21pts
2. Mike Brand - 30pts

4. Rob Maunder - 67pts
5. Spencer Pope - 76pts

8. Andrew Nichols - 107pts
9. Alan Hounsell - 117pts
