2024 29er World Championships at Sailing Aarhus Day 3

Glamorous conditions in Aarhus with four races to complete qualifying series

Waking up to perfect sunshine and spectacular sailing conditions, all six fleets in the largest ever 29er Worlds completed four races in Aarhus Bay. With an onshore breeze and much more steady conditions than many of the previous days, the fleet were once again tested on their starting, boat speed and decision making.

Italians Alex Demurtas and Giovanni Santi top the overall results and continue to lead the Men's fleet into finals Gold fleet racing which will start tomorrow, 7th August. Just two points behind are the 2024 European Champions Mixed Polish team Ewa Lewandowska and Krzysztof Królik who also lead their category, ahead of British James Crossley and Sam Webb from GBR who are second Men.

Leading the Women's fleet is Emily Polson and Tiffany Mak from Hong Kong, China who currently sit in 6th position overall, just two points behind both French Men's teams of Nolann Huet Des Aunay/Titouan Gresset and Jocelyn Le Goff/Jules Vidor who are in 4th and 5th position overall respectively and tied on points.

Alicja Tutkowska and Alicja Dampc from Poland won the first race today jumping up the scoreboard to 15th Overall and second Women's team just ahead of 2022 Women's World Champions Spanish sisters Sara Momplet Baixauli and Isabel Momplet Baixauli.

In the Mixed category Giulia Bartolozzi and Pietro Rizzi remain in second position with Nick Plinke and Nele Petersen in third by 14 points.

The sailors were greeted onshore with a Danish regatta dinner and raffle with prizes sponsored by Evil Eyewear, Ovington and Holger Jess.

11am start on Wednesday, 3 races scheduled on all courses and all to play for as turn up the heat getting closer to the podium end of the regatta.
