Day 3 of the ABP Cadet UK Nationals started with a prize-giving. As well as the usual awards for placings, with thanks to one of our sponsors, Minerva's Virtual Academy, this year Cadets can be awarded for demonstrating Cadet values with winners being recognised for helping a competitor go to the right mark or fishing rubbish out of the water on their way back in.

Light winds persisted from yesterday and the very light northerly was unable to prevent the AP flag being raised and all eyes were looking over to the hills near Dartmouth for the clouds which would bring the sea breeze and hopefully the start of racing. Whist waiting the young sailors spent time talking to their coaches, playing cards, chatting with friends from around the world, and drinking slushies.

With five flighted races having been completed, the main fleet were now split into Gold and Silver fleets for the remainder of the competition.

At the end of day 3 heading the leaderboard were Josh Garner and Jack Benyan with Illia Donchenko and Anatolii Moskalenko second and third placed lies Yehor and Yurii Veretelnyk. Whilst the regatta fleet is currently lead by Kyla Breznan and Alex Nailer, with Hugh Voysey and Hannah Muir-Wood in second and Noah Sauven, sailing with his 7 year old brother Theo today, in third.

The Cadet Class are extremely grateful to the support of all our sponsors in particular Associated British Ports, Minerva's Virtual Academy, Stubborn Mule, Pure Storage, NFU Mutual, Royal Hospital School, GOAT Marine, West System, Optimum time, Exe Sails, The Cornwall Bakery, Stitchprint, Golden Duck, Indigo Concept, Clamcleat and Llandow Caravan Park. The event is being run by Plymouth Youth Sailing, at the Mountbatten Centre for Watersports.

You can follow the event live on the Sailracer Tracker via the link www.cadetworlds.co.uk/tracker and on Instagram and Facebook @GBRCadets.
