The final East Kent Conningbrook Lakes Spring Series event saw perfect midsummer conditions with force 3 winds and close results from 20 races.

11 boats had competed for the overall trophies with Dave Adams having a clear lead. True to form Dave took the first win from Adrian Tomlinson & Peter Jackson, but Adrian immediately hit back with 4 wins in a row to stake his claim. Mike Brand, Dave and Peter took the 2nd places, closing out the rest of the fleet. Mike then won race 6 to stir the mix at the top before Dave and Adrian won 2 more each before lunch!

The course was re-set for the swinging wind and the battle recommenced, with club chairman Alan Hounsell joining the fray. Alan posted two wins and a 2nd to get back in contention for a podium. But Dave and Adrian were still fighting blow for blow at the front with each posting another four wins. Mike and Peter were in a close tussle for the last podium spot. Mike finally took it by 2 points, well back from the leading two and keeping Alan Hounsell 10 points back in 5th ahead of Spencer Pope and Andrew Nichols, who also had close racing, separated by only 4 points.

At the front Adrian, getting the shifts spot on, won 3 of the last 4 races. Dave posted 4,4,1,2 so slipped back, giving Adrian the event win. Dave took a comfortable series win with Adrian just one point ahead of Alan Hounsell in 2nd on equal points with Mike. Only two points separated 2nd place from Peter in 5th.
