Women sailing the world - Leo Wealth Steering the Course Women's Sailing Festival

by Camellia Poon 21 May 14:53 BST 21-26 May 2024

Hebe Haven Yacht Club with Sailability HK, is inviting women and girls to have fun at the global women's sailing festival titled 'Steering the Course' in May.

Join HHYC from Tuesday May 21st to Sunday 26th May for a number of interesting on-and-off-water activities and events that encourage and incentivise participation by women and girls in sailing. This year's theme from World Sailing, is the pathway to the Olympics. 2024 is the year where we have gender parity participation in Paris.

2024 is the fourth year for Hebe Haven Yacht Club to run this festival. The aim of this week-long event is to increase female participation in sailing, especially for those who have never tried sailing and watersports. The festival also highlights the career pathways available to them through watersports.

World Sailing launched 'Steering the Course' in 2021 to introduce women and girls worldwide to the sport of sailing and encourage alternative pathways for those already within the sport, such as coaching or officiating. The festival will bring together sailing communities from all backgrounds, as well as events taking place in multiple countries at the same time. Join us for a fun-packed event week including evening talks and discussions, taster sessions on dinghies and J/80 and a lot more. Sailing Federation of Hong Kong, China (HKSF) is also supporting the event.

On Saturday 25th May, women teams from Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area will compete on the water, at the Leo Wealth Hong Kong Open Ladies'/ Girls' Champ Regatta. This is followed by open invite for participants and their friends and family, to the prize-giving party at the HHYC Garden Bar. Thank you, Leo Wealth and Vino Artisan Italian Wines for being our event sponsors this year. We look forward to welcoming their women teams to come on board and celebrate the festival success.

Contact HHYC and find out how you can get out on the water and have fun!
