After six days of great sailing, Groupe Atlantic is the winner of the Act 1 of the 69F Youth Foiling Gold Cup, event hosted and organized by Circolo Vela Torbole; the event was characterized by the normal alternation between Peler (northerly wind) and Ora (southerly wind), who almost always blew in double digits, allowing almost all of the races to be completed in foiling.
Starting in the wake of L'Oréal Orient Express Racing Team led by Enzo Balanger, first leader of the long regatta series, Clement Cron's team emerged at a distance, overtaking the direct opponent just at the end and defending the lead during the final day. On Groupe Atlantic were sailing the already mentioned Clement Cron beyond Louis Chambet and Jessica Berthoud.
The clash between the two crews, the most experienced in the fleet, was fierce and saw the two competitors face each other without reservations in an exciting and technically clean duel, actually both finished with a limited number of penalities.
But no one has received fewer penalties than Zachary Blomeley's Oceana Vivo, that went in third position and won the Fair Play Trophy, traditionally assigned to the crew who, during a single event, sails with less penalties than the others.
The ranking was completed by the German entries Youth AC Team Germany and BYC Foiling Team, classified fourth and fifth.
Despite the 69F Youth Foiling Gold Cup's Act 1 is over, with the Act 2 planned for the half of June in Malcesine, the 69F Class knows no rest: already this week, actually, it will be time for the second GP of the 69F Cup, still scheduled at Circolo Vela Torbole.
