AIMEX reveals ASMEX 2024 Speaker Program for the ASMEX 2024 Conference

The Australian International Marine Export Group, Superyacht Australia, and Australia Commercial Marine Group are delighted to release the comprehensive conference program for the ASMEX 2024 Conference.

This three-day conference, including networking events and industry tours, will take place at the Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, running from Monday, May 20 to Wednesday, 22 May, concluding with the 2024 Australian Marine Industry Awards Gala Dinner.

Featuring three distinguished international keynote speakers travelling to Australia to engage with conference delegates, ASMEX 2024 proudly welcomes Kitty McGowan, President of the U.S. Superyacht Association (USSA); Theo Hooning, Secretary General of the Superyacht Builders Association (SYBAss); and Petros Michelidakis, Director, Messe Düsseldorf. Each speaker will provide insights into regional updates and advancements, shedding light on the global ramifications of these initiatives for international markets.

An additional four presenting speakers will enhance the already impressive industry experts at the annual ASMEX Conference. Melissa White, Director of South Pacific International SeaKeepers Society will delve into recent projects and initiatives in the South Pacific, while Peter Munckton, Chief Economist, Bank of Queensland, will offer his insights into current and key drivers of the Australian economy and future trends. Chris Blackwell, Sales & Marketing Manager, Echo Marine Group, and Paul Clayton, Managing Director, Blank Canvas Studios, will unveil groundbreaking marketing strategies for the marine sector, harnessing the power of advanced VR programs.

The conference program will highlight two unique panels, fostering collaboration among delegates. The first panel discussion "Getting your head around pollution prevention and response" with three panellists spearheading the conversation in marine pollution prevention, management and waterway health. Mark Mellinger, President, Headhunter Inc. based in the US will offer insights into his advisory role for the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and as the representative of the US Coast Guard, focusing on MARPOL regulations, environmental policies, and strategies for pollution prevention and response. Capt. John Kavanagh, Principal, Pacific Maritime Lawyers & Notaries, will provide updates on recent changes in marine pollution regulations and their implications for operators of commercial vessels. Chris Munster, Director, Probiotic Power, will introduce his innovative probiotic solutions designed for waste management on both private and commercial vessels.

Following the panel, Paul Steinmann, Founder, ENAUTIC will present the latest on electric hydrofoil technology and introduce WaveFlyer - the worlds most advanced electric hydrofoil watercraft.

The second panel, "New Propulsion Technology," will showcase four marine renewable energy experts who will present and discuss the latest advancements and solutions, delving into their impact on the marine industry. Panellists include Steve Connolly, Director at Nautical Solutions; Angus McDonald, CEO, Maritime Impulse; Steve Mitchell, Engineering Manager, Ampcontrol Cameron Park; and Damon Rahmate, CEO & Co-founder, Genevo Marine.

Gillian Carter, Pacific Marine Design will join Theo Hooning and together they will discuss key superyacht industry organisations, their sustainability goals, initiatives and progress. In addition, hear firsthand of the discovery and part recovery of an aircraft wreckage identified to be from WWII off the coast of Papua New Guinea from Captain JT Bundren, MY Pangaea and Angela Pennefather, Melanesian Yachts.

David Good, CEO of Superyacht Australia will deliver a presentation on the latest figures related to superyacht visitation in Australia, as well as provide insights on future growth trends within the industry.
