Day five of French Olympic Week brought chills and thrills for the US sailors. The Men's iQFOiL and Men's Formula Kite athletes secured USA country qualification amid a chilly, classic French Mistral wind with 15-20 knots out of the west.

The Men's Formula Kite fleet opened the morning at the Last Chance Regatta with the Semifinal series. In Semifinal B, US Sailing Team athlete Markus Edegran won both of the races he needed to advance. By making the Finals, Edegran guaranteed he could do no worse than fourth, clinching country qualification by surpassing the minimum 5th place country rank needed to qualify.

"I'm just super proud to have the opportunity to represent my country at the highest level of the sport I love so much," said Edegran. "To be a part of history in kiteboarding's Olympic debut makes it even more special."

Edegran went into the medal series final knowing he had qualification secured and finished fourth overall for the event.

After securing country qualification for Paris 2024 yesterday, US Sailing Team iQFOiL athlete Noah Lyons hit the water today guaranteed a medal in the Last Chance Regatta iQFOiL fleet. Although he led the fleet throughout the entire regatta, Lyons finished second in the winner-takes-all medal race, earning him a silver overall for the event.

"Winning Trials back in January was only step one, and getting the country qualified now is just surreal. I'm going to the Olympics, and I couldn't be happier," said Lyons. "I'm really proud of the progression I've made with the help of my coaches and teammates, and I'm honored to represent the USA this summer in Marseille."

In the LCR ILCA 7 fleet, US Sailing Team athlete Ford McCann finished his day in 7th overall, two places higher than yesterday. Finishing inside the top-10, McCann will move on to tomorrow's ILCA 7 medal race. Unfortunately, with only 20 points on the line tomorrow - 10 sailors with their medal race score doubled - it is mathematically impossible for McCann to achieve country qualification to Paris 2024.

In the Qualified Nations (QN) division, US Sailing Team athlete Charlotte Rose had another consistent day in the ILCA 6, scoring a 5th and 4th to finish the day in 4th overall. Rose's American teammates Christina Sakellaris and Lilly Myers finished the day in 23th and 25th, respectively.

49er USST athletes Andrew Mollerus and Ian MacDiarmid continue to hold 4th place overall and are on track to qualify for Saturday's medal race with three races scheduled tomorrow.

In the QN 470 class, US Sailing Team athletes Stu McNay and Lara Dallman Weiss took a UFD in the final race of the day, moving them to 11th overall.

The QN Women's iQFOiL and Women's Formula Kite fleets finished their racing today, with USST athlete and Paris 2024 selected athletes Dominique Stater finishing 15th overall in Women's iQFOiL and Daniela Moroz finishing 15th in the Women's Formula Kite.
