Get yourself ready for the season
by Rooster 19 Mar 2024 12:00 GMT
As we prepare for the approaching season, prioritising the condition of your buoyancy aid is crucial for maximising your comfort and safety on the water.
We'll guide you through a few important checks to make sure that you are safe on the water when it comes to buoyancy.

For your buoyancy aid to fit properly it should be snug to your body and doesn't rise up to your chin when pulled up or when in the water. If it is an adjustable one then the straps should be tightened to keep it close to your body, if you can't get it tight then the buoyancy aid is probably too large.
A few other important checks:
- Make sure your buoyancy aid is certified for your current weight
- Ensure that none of the foam has deteriorated
- Inspect it for any rips, tears or chemical burns which may affect its performance
- Check all the buckles work correctly if there are any
If you're not convinced your buoyancy aid is still giving you the correct amount of buoyancy you can conduct a simple test below.
