by Jane Wright 10 Mar 14:07 GMT 10-17 August 2024

Seven days of varied racing will be on offer for over 20 classes ranging from IRC 1 through to Mirror dinghies. Over 40 volunteers are involved with the race management and organising of this historic annual event that has its origins in the late 19th century. The Port of Falmouth Sailing Association (PoFSA) is the organising body for Falmouth Sailing Week.

Starting with a skippers' briefing at the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club on the evening of Saturday August 10th The starters gun goes off the following morning.

The regattas are hosted by six clubs starting with Helford River Sailing Club on the 11th, then it's off to Mylor Yacht Club on the 12th; Restronguet Sailing Club, 13th. On Wednesday 14th August there will be the two standalone races hosted by POFSA: The Mainbrace Rum Race for the Carrick fleet and The Ancasta Champagne Race for those classes racing in Falmouth Bay. Royal Cornwall Yacht Club's regatta day follows on the 15th; St Mawes Sailing Club, 16th and Flushing Sailing Club on the 17th for the final regatta and overall FSW24 prize-giving.

On each day the clubs will offer post regatta hospitality, refreshments and award their own club trophies and prizes to competitors.

Racing takes place either in the harbour, Carrick Roads or out in Falmouth Bay. Daily entries, three-day series and seven, daily entries all possible, dependant on your class. Something for everyone.

This year the entry fees are frozen to those of 2023 and there will be free entry to all Juniors 18 and under. Register by midnight, 21st of July for early bird rates saving a further £55.

The Falmouth Sailing Week race management would like to get expressions of interest as early as possible so we can organise the class splits in advance. This year there is an offer of a FREE ENTRY to a skipper who has registered their interest directly to the race office by midnight on May 11th. To be eligible, please email . The lucky winning skipper's name will be pulled out of the PoFSA sou' wester and notified as soon after.

There's a fantastic social scene shoreside organised by PoFSA's shoreside partners: Falmouth Town council, Falmouth BID and Southwest Bars and Events with music and family events held in Falmouth throughout the regatta week. Competitors are entitled to a 50% reduction in tickets.
