The RS Class Association have announced the opening of its three biggest National Championships:

  • Noble Marine RS200 National Championship, 5-9 Aug, Mounts Bay SC
  • Noble Marine RS400 National Championship, 19-23 Aug, Royal Torbay YC
  • Noble Marine RS700/RS800 National Championship, 12-15 Sep, Hayling Island SC

The RS800 event entry is now live, the RS200 and RS400 events will open at midday on Sunday 18th February.

The 2022 RS200 Nationals sold out within hours of opening, with a final entry of 182 boats despite Covid restrictions. With a 150-boat limit at the legendary Mounts Bay, a similar rush is expected and RS200 sailors are urged to get their entries in early to guarantee a place. The RS200 Class has a reputation as the class where many top sailors from a wide range of classes come for fun and to enjoy competitive big fleet racing, gate starts and the legendary social scene, with the majority of the fleet qualifying as youths (aged 22 or under).

Last visited for an RS400 Nationals in 2012, Royal Torbay remains very popular with the fleet for numerous reasons, not least the fantastic sailing area, excellent race management and welcoming clubhouse. This year the event will conclude with a formal Championship Dinner and Prizegiving, featuring a live band.

Hayling Island Sailing Club are really excited about welcoming the RS700 an RS800 fleets for four days of intense racing, with 10 races scheduled. For those not able to manage the full four days, a weekend rate is also available.

Title sponsor Noble Marine have supported the RS 'noughty' classes for many years and will once again also sponsor the RS100/RS300/RS600 Nationals Championship at Eastbourne Sovereign SC, 12-15 Sept and the RS Vareo National Championship at POSH, 10-12 May. Entry details for these events will follow.

Whilst the RS Class Association Nationals attract the very best sailors, the events are welcoming and friendly for all, with socials designed to help those new to the fleet feel included from the start, as well as gold, silver and for some fleets bronze prize categories, meaning that everyone has something to aim for and can win prizes.
