The Boating Industry Association (BIA) has announced a new formal collaboration with TAFE Queensland to meet the growing demands of the marine industry. The partnership supports members' needs not just in the south-east but also in central and north Queensland, ensuring the future of our workforce has access to the courses essential for their business needs.

The partnership sees BIA and TAFE Qld working together to support existing courses and to deliver remote learning solutions to regional areas, as well as highlighting the diverse career prospects within the maritime industry.

Meanwhile, BIA Victoria are hosting a Boating Careers exhibit at the Paynesville Classic Boat Rally & Maritime Festival from March 1st-3rd. This award-winning, free event is set to draw over 10,000 visitors with a diverse fleet of classic boats; Tall Ships, sailing vessels, classic motorboats, skiffs, fishing boats, small crafts and more. The Boating Careers exhibit will showcase opportunities in our great industry and current available jobs. If you have vacancies, this is an excellent platform to promote the position and your company.

Further North, early-bird registration for the Marinas24 International Conference and Trade Exhibition is available only until March 15th. While there is plenty of time to register, the Marina Industries Association recommends you book early to ensure you can attend all the ancillary events, as some are limited in number.

The biennial event will take place May 27th-28th at the Royal International Convention Centre Brisbane, Queensland and will bring together around 350 marina owners, operators and suppliers for two inspiring days of conferencing and exhibition where over 50 exhibitors will showcase their marina related products and services. With the increased exhibition space almost sold out, and the conference program set to be released soon, registrations are on the move.

Carbon Yachts is thrilled to announce its exclusive distributorship of ASTenders in Australia and New Zealand. This partnership brings ASTenders' innovative, high-performance carbon-fibre dinghy tenders from Germany to the Australian and New Zealand markets, including the groundbreaking 340 Revolve with its Mitek electric engine system, capable of reaching a top speed of 25 knots and a range of 120nm, and the remarkably lightweight Beach 280, tipping the scales at an astonishing dry weight of only 30kgs.

Long serving Marine Rescue Port Stephens volunteer Harold (Harry) Gibson has been recognised for almost four decades of service with life membership to Marine Rescue NSW. Mr Gibson was presented the award at this weekend's Marine Rescue NSW board meeting in Newcastle. Marine Rescue NSW Commissioner Alex Barrell said it was wonderful to add Mr Gibson to the Service's celebrated group of life members.

For sailors, The Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard (GCCM) is proud to be Naming Rights partner of Australia's newest ocean race - the inaugural GCCM Gold Coast Mackay Yacht Race which will set sail August 1st. Race Organisers, Southport Yacht Club, will officially launch the 520 nautical mile passage race tonight as the perfect follow-on race from Noakes Sydney to Gold Coast Race. It will send Australian sailors racing up Queensland's coast to Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island Race Weeks in August.

Also, "You'll never hear a bad word said about him." It's a line regularly trotted out when underlining someone's popularity and personality. Truth is, we've all probably got at least one or two minuses next to our name when it comes assessment time. Not Manly 16ft Skiff Club's Michael McMahon. You truly will never hear a bad word uttered about Mick because there are no negatives. His generosity, compassion and commitment to the sailing community and beyond is legendary.

Now, fittingly, his unstinting loyalty and dedication has been officially acknowledged with an Australia Day OAM for services to sailing. It comes after a near 60-year involvement in the sport, covering everything from competitor through to race secretary, treasurer, race starter, judge, handicapper and Manly's delegate to the NSW 16ft Skiff Association. He also served numerous roles at state and national level.

Activity overseas includes The Yacht Sales Co incorporating Multihull Solutions who are once again showcasing an extensive range of sail and power yacht brands at New Zealand's biggest boat show, the Auckland Boat Show from March 14th-17th. Representing the world's finest brands, including Fountaine Pajot, Dufour Yachts, ILIAD Catamarans, Tesoro Yachts, NEEL and LEEN Trimarans, and Cora Cat, The Yacht Sales Co team of specialists will be available.

And in Thailand, Pearl Yachts proudly announces the appointment of Max Marine Asia as the exclusive dealer for Thailand, marking a significant milestone in bringing the luxury yacht brand to Thailand's shores. Max Marine Asia, a leading authority in yacht sales and services, has been chosen as the exclusive dealer for Pearl Yachts in the vibrant maritime landscape of Thailand. This partnership represents a commitment to providing clients in Thailand with unparalleled access to the world-class craftsmanship and luxury that Pearl Yachts represents.
