West Country Boat Repairs RS200 SW Ugly Tour 2024 - Dates announced

It's been a week of tour and event announcements at the RS Class Association, and yes, this is another one, but it's rather special - it's the longest running regional tour of all the RS Classes and has been sponsored by owner of West Country Boat Repairs, Pete Vincent, aka Ugly, from the outset.

Pete has been sailing RS boats for the entire 30 years that RS Sailing have been producing them, but has handed over the organisation of the tour to the very capable (very fast, and much younger) Lorna Glen and Henry Hallam.

The welcoming and inclusive events on the tour always attract a good mix of club and National Tour sailors, a keen youth contingent and many masters. There is always someone willing to offer tips and new sailors are very much encouraged to come along and join in.

For 2024, we have kept the popular mix of predominantly one-day events across the west country, with a race & train weekend to start the season and a two-day event in Cornwall, where the RS200 fleet continues to thrive.

The 2023 prize-giving will take place at the first event at Bristol Corinthian, as it had to be cancelled due to weather conditions last year.

Save the dates:

  • Bristol Corinthian, 13/14 April - Race on Saturday, train on Sunday. Enter for 1 or 2 days.
  • St. Mawes, 11/12 May
  • Bowmoor, 29 June
  • Parkstone, 13 July - The RS200 Summer Champs, also on the Rooster National Tour, enter for Saturday for the Ugly Tour, or for 2 days to also qualify for the National Tour
  • Exe, 28 September
  • Chew Valley, 19 Oct
