Seven Nacra 15s attended the first training camp of 2024 held at Calshot Activities Centre over the weekend of January 13th & 14th. The weekend's forecast was for light winds and cold temperatures and the forecast was correct on both counts!

The coaching team for the weekend was Class Development Coach Ben Harris and current Nacra 15 Super Series winning helm Sam Cox.

At Saturday morning's briefing the coaches and sailors discussed setting goals for the year and methods of learning before launching into the Solent. Keeping warm was key and sailors were frantically searching through their rooms/cars/campervans to try and find an extra layer or two before getting afloat.

With 2 coach boats to the 7 Nacras Ben and Sam were able to give plenty of individual feedback as they cycled the sailors through the day's exercises with the increasingly frantic Riverbank being a great way to keep warm.

Saturday night was spent watching Sail GP on catch up or sliding down the ski slopes of Calshot. Thankfully no broken bones!

The sun showed itself briefly on Sunday morning to try warm everyone up but it was still pretty chilly on the water. Sadly by lunchtime the wind disappeared so the fleet headed ashore for a land based afternoon.

Next up for the fleet is the UK Nacra 15 Winter Champs at Weston SC on Jan 27th 28th followed by a training camp at WPNSA on Feb 17th 18th.
